No Class Memorial Day

On Memorial Day, Monday, May 31st we have cancelled our Salsa Classes. While having a fun and safe weekend, please remember to acknowledge and appreciate those who died in service to this nation to preserve your freedom.

For those who are interested... we will instead be participating in a Memorial workout, fundraiser and potluck at Crossfit Works. The following workout is named after Lt. Michael Murphy, who was killed in Afghanistan in 2005. Read more about Lt. Michael Murphy and the Lone Survivor Foundation by clicking here.

The Workout: “Murph” For time:1 mile Run, 100 Pull-ups, 200 Push-ups, 300 Squats, 1 mile Run.

This workout may be done as an individual or as a team. If you don't have a team, just show up and the trainers can partner you with someone. Join us, it'll be "fun!" This is a potluck, so bring something yummy to share! Crossfit Works, 204 S. Tucson Blvd. starts at 5 pm.

Yes, Bachata Social is ON this week!

Come join DJ Rob for the Free Bachata Social this Saturday. Be ready to practice your bachata, meet some new friends, share in conversation and listen to the extensive music collection by DJ Rob!! Although the main focus will be Bachata, there will be some Salsa and Merengue mixed in. As always, the Bachata Social is FREE and open to all ages!

This week we will be having a Memorial Bachata Potluck, so bring your friends/family and a dish or drink to share! We will be collecting donations (not required, but definitely appreciated) to support Bagdad Pups. Summer, Liz, and Bruce will also be teaching a 30 minute bachata lesson around 8 pm, so be there!!

Time: 7-9:30 pm

Location: UA Biological Sciences West room 301, building is located at 1041 E. Lowell St., immediately to the northwest of the large parking garage on 6th St. near Fremont Ave. Enter through north patio to room 301.

Join us in Bachata FIT!

Bachata FIT (Functional Integrated Training):a unique workout which blends Bachata, Salsa, Merengue and Reggaeton footwork and styling spiced up with military style functional strength exercises.

Come learn new Bachata and Salsa shine patterns and styling while you workout. This fun and challenging class will not be done in dance shoes, come dressed to sweat! This class is not gender specific. Make sure to bring water and a sweat towel.

Dates: Saturdays - 5/1, 5/15, 5/22, 5/29 NO CLASS 5/8

Time: 11 am

Location: Tucson Pole Fitness, 4152 E. Grant Rd. (between Alvernon and Columbus)

Pre-Registration Price: Only $20 for All Classes

Pre-Registration Deadline: Friday, April 30th

Full Price: $7 each class at the door

You may also pay $20 at your first class to cover all four classes.

In Honor of Memorial Day: A SalsaSoulseros Fundraiser for Vets and their Pets!

During the month of May, please help us raise some funds for the Baghdad Pups program and help reunite our Warriors with the stray animals that became their pets during battle. Led by SPCA International, 'Operation Baghdad Pups' assists Military members serving on the 'War on Terror' in bringing home the stray animals that became their pets while operating in the combat zones of Iraq and Afghanistan. From a nickel to a dollar...all funds collected will be sent in to help in this endeavor. Thieves at Sapphire!

Unfortunately we have to report, that on Thursday April 29th, one of our fellow Salseras had her purse stolen at Sapphire. The purse was never found, although they searched trash cans and the bathroom stalls (these are the typical locations where these cowards go to discard empty wallets and purses).

Besides being an adequate new venue with a couple of untrained door staff, and a DJ that occassionally plays some good music, the types of individuals that frequent this lounge are mostly "non salsa family." So please be aware.

Ladies, as a preventative measure consider an "arm wallet" to carry your keys, money, and ID...email us if you need info on these special wallets. Also watch those drinks closely as you dance on the floor. You never know if an unattended drink will get spiked at this place.
